NaPoWriMo #16 – Restaurants

Welcome to Writing Prompt Pit Stop! We’re beginning the downside of the month since we passed the mid-point yesterday. So, on Day 16 of NaPoWriMo, I’ve chosen the April PAD Challenge again…only because I was on the road to IN for five hours, took in a movie with my daughters, and spent family time tonight…so I had to squeeze in another quickie poem today…but at least I’m writing something everyday. As the last few days, I will post the prompt that I used, and the NaPoWriMo prompt, right after my poem, “The Hoosier Royal Feast.” Enjoy!

The Hoosier Royal Feast

Pizza is one of my favorite vices,
and I confess I’ve had many slices!
Most places the pies are angle cut
into triangles, but not my Indiana
favorite: Pizza King. Their round
pies are all cut into tasty squares,
thin crust, just enough to crunch.
You won’t find the normal round
pepperoni slices, instead it’s all ground.
Those other places have pizzas
with everything, some even call them
“deluxe,” or “the works” but my home-
town haunt calls it the Royal Feast –
a savory pizza experience fit
for a pizza queen…or king.

The Day 16 PAD Challenge prompt:

For today’s prompt, write a poem about (or at) a food establishment. You could pick on a chain like Taco Bell or McDonald’s, sure, but maybe there’s a local favorite–or some special dive. Heck, maybe that place where you took your first date or got your first job. Have fun with it, and if you need to do a little research, go out for something to eat.

The Day 16 NaPoWriMo prompt:

Today, I challenge you to fill out, in no more than five minutes, the following “Almanac Questionnaire,” which solicits concrete details about a specific place (real or imagined). Then write a poem incorporating or based on one or more of your answers. Happy writing!
